Belen Lempira

At only twenty four kilometers southeast of Gracias
amidst beautiful pine forest is Belen a place where it seems that time stopped. The town was founded in 1871 but its history goes far back. Its first inhabitants are descendent from the Chorties ethnic group. The first mayor for the town was Mr. Eusebio Amaya Morales in 1881. The current population is of about 5000 people.

Belen is a perfect spot to spend a day walking and admiring the beautiful old colonial town and the beautiful views and forests.
