San Cristobal Fort

The most famos attraction in the city of Gracias is the San Cristobal Fort. Located at the top of a hill overlooking the city offer beautiful panoramic views of the city and the surrounding mountains. It was built in 1865 by President Jose Maria Medina to honor his close friend President Juan Lindo who is buried at the fort. In the 1930s the fort was used for military purposes because of its strategic location during the civil wars. Currently there is a small museum and info center at the fort.
